My daughter LOVES singing and music, so for her 2nd birthday, I bought her this CD player. At the time, there were not too many reviews and they were very hit or miss, but really there is not much of market for children's toys so I took a chance and I am glad I did. It's been 6 months now and she really enjoys it. It has held up well to rough handling by a 2 year old as well as constant sticking the microphone in her mouth with the "aaaaaaaaaahhhhh" as another reviewer mentioned. I haven't bought an AC adapter yet and agree it would be nice, but my daughter likes to move around and dance with it so I'm not sure it would work for her, but truthfully the first set of batteries held up well and I'm now on my second set of batteries after 6 months. The only things that I think could be improved about this is that: 1) the volume can be a little wonky. You have to set the volume up very high, like over 20, to really hear it. The lower volume numbers are ridiculously low. Also, the microphone seems to have a louder volume no matter wwhat. 2) the microphone coil is pretty short (which might make sense for safety reasons, but it is not usual to hear that screeching noise due to microphone interference. So if they can't make the coil longer, then I think they need to address the microphone interference. 3) while I really like the hold function which prevents the child from pressing all the buttons, it has a drawback, which is that the child cant open the cd player while the hold button is one, so if they are very determined like my daughter they can succeed in playing with the buttons to make it do something other than play music, such as insert, remove cd player, stick your finger in when cd is spinning. Frankly, I think the open and close feature should be disabled while a cd is playing. Now, these are just helpful suggestions if the maker was interested in improvement, but I am actually really happy all in all with the CD player. Seems like I got lucky because it's been 6 months and it keeps working.

Purchased this toy for my 3-year old granddaughter, mainly because I wanted her to be able to play CD's without her parents' help. However, what she really enjoys are the microphones and singing along. Can't say much about durability and reliability as she hasn't had it that long.

I had read some negatives before but this was best rated one and it was cute and nice until you turned it on. The CD stops all the time because the anti skip kicks in and that is while it is sitting one a table. If you move it, it refuses to play. It did this constantly with any CD. If you turn off the anti skip feature the disk refuses to play at all. I am mad that I wasted to money on batteries and now I need to replace it with something for my daughter.

I bought this for my three year old in July 2009. My son's nanny used this during the morning time about 30 mins to get him to sing and dance. and in Early April 2010, my nanny told me that the cd broke. she does not know why. The disk refused to turn. The CD player was not abused in anyway. I expect this CD Player to last longer than a year but it did not. I am really disapointed.

I bought the Sing Along CD Player for each of my young granddaughters, 3 and 4. They love it. It is durable, easy to carry around, easy to play alone or with others. I bought it so that they could do the singing and dancing that they enjoy on their own when they chose to do it. I think it is a great toy, more expensive than the one I bought for the older kids, but a good value.

My 3 yr old received this for Christmas and LOVED it. Unlike some others, this has decent volume on both the CD and microphones. She loved to hear herself sing along to songs and played with it every day. One day (2 months later) it just wouldn't work, changed the batteries but still won't work. Unusre what happened, it was not dropped or damaged. Of course, we have no packaging to return it so are now stuck with it. Daughter is very disappointed.

Our granddaughter doesn't get the karaoke thing, but has fun with it anyway, and sings on her own...I research a lot before I got this one and so far, so good

And in today's world, that's about all there is left. So unless you intend to use completely commercially produced CDs with it, do not buy. (It's also extremely sensitive to jostling, despite its "anti-shock" system.)

Pros: This CD player is durable, withstands lots of bouncing and carrying around by little hands. The microphones turn off individually and the "Hold" feature (which locks the player in play or off mode) is helpful. Cons: The player does not play burned cds. There is no volume control for the microphones and the speaker is quite large. If you have a loud singer this is an incredible amplifier. I can hardly stand to be in the room with my 4 year old while he is using this toy. The volume control for the cds is great, but it does not control the microphones. I completely regret making this purchase. Too much money for an incredibly loud player.

I was very reluctant to purchase this toy after reading the review of the CD player not working, but my goddaughter requested the toy for Christmas. Guess what, the CD player did not work. On a positive note the CD player was delivered in a very timely manner. If you choose to ignore these reviews, I hope you get one that works.

This is a pretty decent toy, especially if your child loves music. It's a nice size for little ones to carry around or to take in the car. It's very durable -- ours has been thrown around quite a bit and still looks and works perfectly. Like any other toy with little parts, the "cds" disappear and reappear all of the time, so my son doesn't really use that feature. But the buttons are easy to push and the songs aren't bad. The volume's pretty reasonable as well. The only complaint I have is that the door is a little too difficult for a one year old to get open, so when he does put the discs in he can't really get them out without my help. But like I said, he mainly uses it for the music to dance to. Personally, we much prefer the Little Tykes Boom Box, and it's cheaper and you definitely don't need both. But still, overall, a decent toy.

Children need consistency and this toy just doesn't offer it. It's cute, the songs are fun, but when your child puts a song disc in, it should play the song WITHOUT the parent having to step in and push the button several times to make that happen. Also, when the front is accessed "open" and "close" it should say it each time, instead of every other time. This was purchased by someone else for us. I tested it in the store, and I didn't buy it for a reason. I had hoped I had judged it too hastily, I didn't. My daughter will still play with it, but she tires of it easily and she doesn't "learn" from it as much as she should. What a disappointment.

We were given this as a gift for Christmas for my four month old daughter. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES the songs and LIGHTS... She will watch it as long as I am willing to push the buttons to keep it going... I also know it will last her a while because I have seen many of the other reviews where kids over a year are enjoying putting in and taking out the CD's etc. That said, I wish it had a continuous play of songs available, so I didn't have to push the buttons over and over, lol... The songs are cheesy, but I think most baby toy songs are cheesy. My husband and I thought it played the songs on the CD when you put them in, because he coincidentally put them in in the order they played the first time! haha, we later found out, it randomly plays songs... What are the odds of that?! Overall I really like it because there is not a whole lot that holds a 4 month old's attention for a long period of time and this does. +She will be able to play with it for quite some time!

My son loves this toy. He's 6 months and he just has to smack the thing to get it to make noise/music which makes him happy. He plays with it all by himself. The raison d'etre of my review, however, is that Fisher Price changed the lyrics to Jack & Jill! Instead of going up the hill to fetch a pail of water, they "go looking for some color" and then they find a yellow sun. WTF!?! Are the PC-nazis dictating changes to nursery rhymes? Falling down the hill was too violent?! All nursery rhymes and stories are violent! Humpty-dumpty, snow white, hansel and gretel to name a few. Ridiculous. I am aghast. Aghast!

I was expecting it to "play" the CD's, just like the old style record players played the records. My daughter does like this toy and it does teach her about putting the CD's in so she can take them out. However, it doesn't do as much as I expected. Oh well.
